Clinical Hypnotherapy

Now that I have identified the difference between a hypnotist and a clinical hypnotherapist, I want to spend a little more time about the process of how hypnotherapy is effective for the treatment of some medical and many psychological issues.

Hypnosis is one of the fastest growing fields of human achievement. As hypnotherapist we are working with people who are frustrated because nothing else has helped them achieve their goals. They have tried every other avenue that they can think of without success. I use hypnosis, hypnotherapy, and teach self hypnosis so that people like you can succeed in making important changes. Did you know that many of the successful professional atheles and Olympic teams use hypnosis to help them win at their sport? That's true.

Hypnosis is a deep state of relaxation during which suggestions are made to create beneficial changes in ideas or behavior. The subconscious mind controls the involuntary functions of the body, including habits and things that we do ‘automatically’ - it is fueled by our emotions and imagination and directs the energy from within.  The subconscious mind also contains memories of every single thing that has occurred to us.

In hypnosis the mind is very receptive to new ideas and open to suggestions which encourage more sensible, balanced or helpful attitudes to reality.

In the clinical setting, symptoms associated with stress or anxiety can be helped; in such cases it is not a substitute for medical treatment, but a very useful supplement to it.  Mind and body affect each other and the person as a whole in benefited by this holistic approach.

The latest research shows that hypnosis combine with cognitive behavioral therapy has tremendous benefit with the treatment of PTSD for our military heroes. Hypnosis can also be a complementary treatment for medical issues. We can contact your doctor to make sure that using hypnosis is appropriate with your medical care.

For some conditions, regression techniques can be used.  This may mean re-examining (without necessarily re-experiencing) events which influenced us at an earlier time in life.  By bringing these memories to the surface the subconscious mind is able to discharge the negative effects and can be ‘reprogrammed’ for success. Simply put hypnosis can access the powerful unconscious mind and in doing so, can help a person to make positive changes.

The number of sessions required usually varies from person to person; however, most people feel some benefit from hypnotherapy immediately.

In my therapy office you may request the hypnosis sessions to be videotaped or recorded on your mobile device.
